A jeep-based cultural tour into the former Kingdom of Lo, the trans-Himalayan desert of Upper Mustang, for travellers who prefer driving to trekking. Following the road up the Kali Gandaki from Jomsom, the tour reaches the walled medieval capital of Lo Manthang via Kagbeni, Ghami and Tsarang. A restricted-area permit and registered guide are required. Highlights include the royal palace and ancient gompas of Lo Manthang, cliff-cut cave dwellings, the red monastery of Kagbeni and one of the last intact Tibetan Buddhist cultures in the Himalaya.

Scenic desert drive via Ghami and Tsarang to the walled capital.
Lo Manthang monasteries and caves
Explore the royal palace, Jhampa and Thubchen gompas and nearby cave villages.
Return drive to Jomsom and fly to Pokhara
Drive back down the Kali Gandaki and fly out from Jomsom.
